LAME (libmp3lame-0.dll) – notes under the GNU LGPL
==================================================

rockinplayer uses the free library LAME 3.100 (https://lame.sourceforge.io/) for MP3 export.
LAME is licensed under the GNU Lesser/Library General Public License (LGPL, text: LAME-COPYING.txt).

* LAME is NOT compiled into rockinplayer.exe; it is a separate file, libmp3lame-0.dll, next to rockinplayer.exe.
  rockinplayer loads it at runtime when exporting MP3. You can replace the file at any time with your own compatible
  version of libmp3lame (same file name, 64-bit, Windows).
* Without this DLL rockinplayer keeps working normally; only MP3 export is disabled.
* The source code belonging to the DLL is included in this delivery: lame-3.100-source.tar.gz
  (SHA-256: ee481fbb1913daf27ad5f1521eea9f6919feab0995585e93d9040befe36250eb).
  It corresponds to LAME 3.100 as shipped with the Rust package "mp3lame-sys" 0.1.11, with a few small differences from the
  original tarball:
    - include/libmp3lame.sym: the export "lame_init_old" is removed
    - libmp3lame/util.c: additional condition "&& !defined(__ANDROID__)" and cleaned-up whitespace
    - config.guess and config.sub: newer versions (2024)
  LAME's algorithm code is unchanged.
* The DLL was built from this source with MinGW-w64 (GCC):
    ./configure --host=x86_64-w64-mingw32 --disable-frontend --disable-static --enable-shared --enable-nasm=no
    make
  (result: libmp3lame/.libs/libmp3lame-0.dll; then "strip --strip-unneeded")
* Note on patents: the core MP3 patents expired in 2017.
